    Default Bosszilla

I don't post much about customer builds, or when I do it's the finished product, but I thought I would take you guys along for the ride on this one I'm just starting.

The backstory is, guy has a 2013 Boss 302 and crashes it. Can't afford to fix it at the time so sells the motor and trans. Fast forward to last winter he gets the car all fixed up at a bodyshop but needs a powertrain and contacts us for options, managed to sell him on a new Ford 7.3 gas engine out of a 2020+ Super Duty and a pair of mirror twin turbos from VS Racing, it's my job to make it happen.

A little bit of engine prep first, opening up the ring gaps and swapping in a Cailles camshaft as well as a VCT lockout block.

Up next is a 417 Motorsports oil pan which had a oil pump pickup mod to gain clearance I thought was very clever. The pickup originally sat where that big staked plug is, but now is bolted to the pump via their billet cover, gains about 3 inches of clearance.

Before installing I welded twin -10 AN bungs to the front of the pan for turbo oil drains.

Together with exhaust manifolds flipped and ready for a test fit.

And first preliminary test fit into the car. Going to have to section out a bit of the oil pan and either buy or build an intake manifold

'Couldnt afford to have it fixed, fast forward a bit later and we are selling him a 7.3 monster with a full TT build'

What drilling company does this guy work for?

All jokes aside, this build looks nuts. Thanks for posting and will be following! I remember when these boss302's came out how badly I wanted one.

Awesome. Definitely be following along this one.

Staying with the manual or going to an auto transmission?

Crashes a 302 and now you're giving him probably triple the power. You're part of a homicide now! Cant wait to see it all done!!

Amazing build! Lots of kudos to you.
I wonder how the car is going to feel.
The 5.0 is known to be rev happy and responsive, I wonder if the HD truck motor is going to feel slow to respond in comparison or if the insane amount of power more than makes up for it.

Back at er finally. Brought in a BMR tubular K member and a regular power rack to solve our motor fitment issues. The electric rack and stock K member were taking up too much real estate under the engine.

Unboxed the brand new Tremec TR3160 and measured for shifter location. Looks like the Boss 302's factory shifter should fit it with minimal modification

Supported with a cross brace for now, some minor adjustment and then I can fab engine mounts.

    Yeah it is.

Sentry, are you the primary builder for this project? How many larger projects does the shop take on at once?

Yup I am the builder on this one. For the big ridiculous projects usually about 2 or 3 at a time, I personally have 2 hoists to use and can use other hoists if needed. (Shop has 11 total)
