Really hated what this pandemic has done to all of us, was comfortably leasing a new car every 3 years and if I was to do the same thing this year it would cost me an additional 17-19k in financial obligation without discount to lease the same 60k car/price range. While I can certainly afford it if I choose too I really feel for those who are paycheck to paycheck, how on the world do you survive now? God save our wallet please..

Leases have been pretty poor deals for years now. Covid shortage made it worse. It’s turned into instant payday loan level of shittyness, taking advantage of people at this point.

Hell there aren’t many new finance deals that are worthwhile anymore either. But you don’t have a choice either so you’re fucked either way.

Even used is fucked. 2 year old vehicles sold within 5% of new MSRP.

    Love it all.

Looks like my dad is ending up with a 2021 Denali with 50k km for $89k private sale. Has the retractable running boards and a GM provided extended warranty.

New 2023 denali with same options are $110k out the door after gst.

    That's basically a 20% discount.

Is $20k a decent amount off for a truck approaching two years old and 50k kms on it? I think its reasonable.

But prices are never going down for new, and I doubt we'll see much of an adjustment used. The bottom end of the market has been obliterated since everyone started selling/crushing their shitboxes since cats were getting top dollar.

The entire market basically got pushed up a bracket, I'd love to see data on how many cars were scrapped. Combined with low interest rates just begging for everyone and their dog to get into a new vehicle until recently, I think it will be years until the market goes back to anything we're used to.

It should be illegal to sell new cars without LED/Projector lights. Ford and Chevys halogen lights are the biggest piece of garbage.

I thought my leases were pretty good, 0.4% and 12% off MSRP on a luxury car with the color and option I wanted that was sitting on the lot for months. I guess those days are gone...forever so it seems

The required finance is generally to prevent/discourage exporting, and as far as I know, mostly limited to the models that are commonly exported like trucks and SUVs which will cost the dealer allocations.

That's not an issue with Lamborghinis, so no finance. Plus the clientele are far more likely to tell them to fuck off.

No big deal, I was just saying that there are dealerships and companies that aren’t gouging customers with financing, extra options or whatever it may be. But as you&me mentioned, some specific brands are different and the exporting factor plays a role now too.

Funny interaction with a dealership recently. My brother's TRX finally gets delivered and we go to pick it up and I see a Wrangler 392 sitting. Take it for a spin and talk to them about trading my Grand Cherokee for it. 392 to is marked up obviously. Today comes back with some numbers and I ask what is the trade value attributed to my Jeep?

Sales guy's response, "our appraisers don't tell us the exact number unless they know the deal is going through for sure, but it will be good and on the higher side of what we discussed initially". LOL

I tell the guy the dealership is a joke and he should find a better place to work at. He replies saying he agrees and has been looking at other options as some practices of the place makes people think they are scamming them.

    Fucking idiots.
