Why? We wanted to know what the difference between their base trim and the trim above since it was priced almost the same. If you were shopping for a car and the two cars were priced the the same, but one had more features which one would you buy? What the dealerships do is up to them shady or not, we just moved on and looked at a different vehicle. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'd be signing as fast as i could for the one with more featuresThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I was looking at small SUVs and Northland VW was talking 9% interest and no lease option. Are we going going to see a correction in the new car world? Or is this the new normal?
Taos or Tiguan? I just ordered a TiguanThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Toyotas at 8.5% lol
With the way things are now i wouldnt be surprised if they avoided cash deals or at least left them on the back burnerThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Most dealerships don't allow this anymore. Have to sign for 6 months finance then you can pay off otherwise you get hit with a penalty. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Welcome to the new world... Cash deals are a thing of the past now. They make more money off financing from banks.
Taos
Could free up the cash I guess. Would rather just lease for the time being.
Yep, just experienced the joy of this today. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ordered new car in April, promise delivery in August, but told if it's after Sept, at least I'd get a MY23.
Now new car arrives in Oct, luxury tax kicks in, market's dropped on the previous car by ~$15k, mandatory finance is still a thing and, oh yeah, "they're not building '23s yet, so you're getting a '22"...
Jesus, what a headache.
Lucky for me, I can only afford used cars.
Jokes on you. A used Escalade is now 300kThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I just got offered 5.9% purchase on a Toyota and and then I would pay it out after the 6 months...
In the old days, doing that would get me $1k for the trouble. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Now I guess the incentive is you actually get a car.
Ya pretty much... Tis the times we are in right now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just an FYI for people being forced to finance. The same happened to me when i purchased a trailer last spring. The dealership said after 6 months I can pay it off with no issues. The day after signing the financing documents I got a call from the financing bank to verify info. At this point I asked if I could pay it off after six months and they advised I could pay it off anytime. I didn't have to wait. I'm guessing the dealership gets the kickback if it stays open for 6 months and nothing if you pay it off early.
I've since been told that all loans in Canada have to be open but i never looked into to verify.
Yeah, I've heard the dealership gets fucked if you pay early, not the consumer. But never checked. These days my mortgage is a higher interest rate than my auto loan. So that's where any spare money would go.
Whoa, Playa! All this talk of "spare money" belongs in the thinly veiled raw dough thread! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
