You asked a question and really didn't want feedback on it. I expect that in the "what car to buy threads", but not from you.

biz class of course. But biz class doesn't save you a bunch of time in the process...only creature comforts. Time is a valuable resource...and spending days in airports and on planes cant be replaced.
So you rather drive 10 hours to Vancouver? Or are you saying you’d be happy staying within a few hours of Calgary? Honestly, if given the opportunity, I’d choose to fly to Edmonton rather than drive.

Biz class doesn’t save you time, but it makes time go by easier. I don’t even stress out if the flight is delayed. Just keep chilling out in the lounge. More drinking time. Our flight from TO was 2 hrs delayed, spent that time writing the hotel review.

Of course if speed limits weren’t a thing and we can drive balls out, I’d be driving to Vancouver, even to toronto. It’s the speed limits that make driving any decent distance a fucking chore.

I mean the hassle and cost of travel must be weighed against the benefit you get from that travel. Going to see some fucking temple in Thailand has lost it's allure - how much of that allure is individual. For me? Going to see the great wall of china is not worth the days of time, jetlag, blah blah blah that it takes to get there.

I mean, Buster, for your examples you picked two places that are over 12 hours travel away and in third world countries, and then complain that the concept of "travel" is too much hassle? There's lots of places that are closer, easier and nicer than that.

The concept that "I can see ______ on YouTube about as well as I could see it if I went there in real life" is the most straight-outta-my-mom's-mouth thing I have heard in... several years? Maybe since she died alone in her living room chair, listening to AM radio, smoking?

I can still hear her saying it before I went to NHL games, Europe, concerts, etc etc.
    It's hilariously inaccurate.

I think overall travel time is longer.

If you leave your house at the same time, I dare say you will get to West Edmonton mall faster driving.

2.5 hours door to door, maybe 2:45 if there is a lot of traffic.

For the flight, it's 24 minutes from my house, probably the same for yours. You have to be there 1 hour before. (1:30 so far)

If you are lucky, the flight pushes back on time and there is 10-20 minutes of taxi time, add 20 minutes of de-icing in the winter. 30-45 minutes flight time cause prop planes are slow (2:30 so far).

Get rental or uber (10 minutes) and then a solid 30-40 minutes from the airport cause YEG is basically in Red Deer. (3-3:30 minutes minimum).

That's onerous. Lounge or not. Then there is the risk of flight delays. I'd rather drive.

the closer it is, and the cooler it is, the less over-rated it is.

Don't mind Buster, it's his COVID tinnitus telling him things.

It’s definitely longer to fly. Just saying I would choose to fly over drive. More relaxing. Wouldn’t make sense for a day trip, or a trip where I need a vehicle (ie kids sports). Going to a concert? Hells ya.
