    @Mar what did you buy?
Nothing yet. Believe it or not, I'm not ignoring the advice. I want to make sure I make the correct decision so I'm waiting to see if there are any suggestions for anything else, otherwise I'm going to contact Telus.
I already have Amazon Blink cameras and they're great but I am worried they won't do anything if someone breaks in with a mask on while I'm on vacation.

Triton is good. They will go straight to calling emergency services for certain types of alarms if you want them to.

What part of Calgary do you live in?

I’ve lived in Calgary for 36 years and have never experienced a home invasion.

Why would they wear a mask?

I come from Coral Springs but I moved out of there a year ago, I no longer live in Calgary but I'm still close. I heard shootings all the time, people down the street had their door smashed in, got robbed. My cameras constantly picked up people checking our car doors.

Specifically for cameras, if they know nobody's home, they can get in and out easily.

If they break into your home and take your stuff, jokes on them, the battery is dead.

Then why do you have such a killer security system?

I struggle to understand how any security system will protect your stuff, or your family, after someone breaks in. The cops will be 20+ minutes if you live in an urban area, and 90+ minutes if you live in the country.
I don't think the recorded video will help the cops "get your stuff back" either.

I do support security company stickers on your windows, it's possible that would prevent a break-in from lazy thieves.

It's because of the security system, DumDumb!!
It's a chicken before rooster thing.

My wife wanted it so she could monitor the home when we are on holidays.

Its great for letting me know when packages arrive and when neighbors dogs piss on my lawn.

I did catch a UPS delivery guy tossing a package one time.

The security system won't stop thieves, but it's a mitigation tool. If there's no alarm, they can - in theory - close the door behind them, spend all day packing up valuable stuff, then back a truck up to the garage and load a shitload of things. Maybe even make multiple trips if you're gone for the weekend.

If an alarm starts going off, it forces them to get in/out because they know people will come looking, or at least take notice that something is not right (nosy neighbours probably sooner than cops).

This, exactly. And if I miss the notification on my phone when I'm in Newfoundland, at least someone is dispatching the police to check on it and at the very least shut my door if it's raining.
