Tarmac removal bits…. Cleaning off rims

Well, a last minute drive to Kelowna on friday night with my EVO gave me some free wheel weights.....god damn construction. they were repaving the Rogers pass summit tunnels but did the worst job ever of removing the old tarmac.
it was literally like a gravel road for 20km on either side of the tunnels...chunks of tarmac everywhere like little pebbles.
does anyone have a good product or method to remove this? thank god i have mud flaps on the car.

I used to use gasoline or bug and tar remover from crappy tire.

That sucks. I got rerouted down gravel rounds in my Merc yesterday for about 20kms. Super pissed.

I washed my truck for the first time in moths spent ten whole bucks on it, and then immediately got put through a detour that included deep puddles, so I have mud splashed all over my wheels, well wells, and front air dam.

autoglym bug and tar remover will melt that shit off in about 10 seconds

you might need to use a decent amount of it though and unfortunately it doesn't come in a spray bottle, but it's the dogs bollocks

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. i'll start with the "milder" autoglym and bug/tar removers....if i have to, out comes the gasoline.
ironically, i took the south route back from Kelowna last night (to avoid the tar balls on the north route). it was a 10 hr drive back yesterday, fun roads but clogged with RV's. AND......i ran into gravel bypasses and new paving jobs too.
I just wasn't winning at all this weekend.....just glad i left the white trackhawk at home. i would've cried more....

Last ditch effort there’s a CarBrite product called All Sol I use a lot to remove tar etc.

Fukenwax or whatever it's called now is pretty good for it

Tarminator. Use a plastic razor to scrape off the softened tar.

Four hours later…..the product name made me laugh “Tarminator” but that job is done.
Ended up using a highly saturated rag and scraping it off gently by hand. Anything else would start to scratch the finish. The final product pic was still wet after rinsing…that’s why it looks so black and shiny.
All in all, back to my happy self (aka half grumpy) but thanks to @HiSpec for the suggestion.
