Why a 20lb pack? Unless you're overnighting you should be nowhere near that. Maybe with ice axe and a rope/harness
Most of the gear follows the usual checklists, I’ve done a sanity check with a couple guides and it seemed pretty in line with their expectation. If I knew the crew of people I was going with routinely I could likely leave stuff out to due to duplication in bags but right now I’m packing like I could get trapped on my own.

Ya I feel like 15–20 is probably a pretty standard pack… but maybe I should weigh mine.

My airbag alone is probably 7 pounds, so a 20lb day pack actually seems on par depending on water/food.

Yea fair enough I guess I'm pretty light most of the time. I don't bring an airbag unless the day objective is spicy or underlying conditions have me more concerned than usual. I only ever bring at most 500ml of water and very little food and generally not really any extra clothes. So pretty much just shovel and probe so I'm usually 10lb max for a day of touring.

I don't believe it's worth bringing an airbag every day and my Osprey 32l is much more comfortable than my airbag anyway

Entered in a Boardrstyle contest today against a bunch of pro riders including Max Parrott. Managed to make it to the finals tomorrow on my powder board haha. I imagine I’ll get eliminated pretty quick as I don’t care much to change my gear or even change wax but it’s been a good time so far.

Well it was a ton of fun, but was eliminated relatively quickly from the strong competition. Definitely out of my comfort zone and cool to know my old ass can hang with some of the top snowboarding athletes of the world like Kevin Hill and Max Parrott.

Going to enter again next year and take it a bit more seriously!

I did the exact same thing as you. Swapped snowboarding to skiing in the BC because I hated with the fuss of dealing with a splitboard, first time back to skiing since I was a pre-teen was on Black Prince.
Gotta say.. went snowboarding on saturday at the hill.. currently shopping for a hardboot split. I miss it..

It’s done. Gonna slow build a hardboot setup over the summer. Keep the skis for big days

To enter is crazy enough but to make it to the finals against pros makes you a winner IMO, beyond sick! You're living my dream life with snowboarding, mountain biking and your sick ass cars.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Back in Nelson for a week, dumping snow tomorrow then chasing the last of the slush for the season out here, back to sunshine for 6 more weekends after that

I got here in 6.5 with one stop. Nelson has a natural defence in that it is far from everywhere, but real estate prices will go insane here if castlegar ever gets their airport unfucked.
