mine scraped up my drive way last year when i stopped too hard on it lol i wouldn't be dry turning or stopping/accelerating too hard in a garage if i had studs.

Update on Nokian Tires

I guess a lot of Nokian tires are made in Russia, and Nokian has shut down the russian factory and moving production to other factories but it sounds like they could be in short supply soon, till they get ramped back up in other countries.

Is it stamped on on tire what country they are made in?

Do they actually give you less traction on dry pavement?

Unless you drive an S2000 (or something else with equally poor sound insulation), or drive with your windows down in the winter, noise is a non issue in my experience.

Scratching the driveway and garage floor is the only thing that might happen. If you dry steer in your garage or driveway for some reason.

Yes they do give less traction, Well documented. Some tires are worse than others.

In a quiet car the noise is very loud. I had them in my Tesla and pulled them out because of the drawbacks. They were worse on pavement, no different in snow, hard on the parking mats... then we got a winter full of freezing rain and I regretted my decision lol!

My hakka's do indeed have less cold/dry pavement grip because of the studs. I'm on the fence if I'd do studs again, they were great in Edmonton because they tend to have more snowpacked roads but Calgary gets more melting back down to bare pavement.

That being said, the few times it's icey as fuck as they grab hard is probably more important than the Chinook days and bare pavement when I can stop adequately anyways. Really should never be in a position that the dry pavement grip actually comes into play unless you drive like an idiot.

It's more of how well the vehicle is noise insulated. We barely noticed the noise in our E wagon, while the Sienna you can clearly hear the tires especially at higher speeds. Teslas have next to no sound insulation so it must've been a racket haha.

No consensus. I personally wouldn't choose studs, but I can see why someone might.
