Young guns era coming back.
Young guns era coming back.
Toffoli, Lindholm, Backlund, Hanifin and Markstrom for the first overall pick, we take Bedard and rebuild.
Seems legit right.
The correct strategy is to sell the Flames to Ryan Reynolds and the Remington Group, and leverage his star power to attract people and grow the fanbase further here. Calgary is much closer to Vancouver than Ottawa so it makes sense, as long as the rumors of Edwards wanting out are true. If nobody wants to play here, and it's not the coach even though we thought it was the coach, surely the valuation of the franchise is going to be flat at best going forward and is an opportune time to get out.

Does Murray want out now because of the arena deal? I hadn't heard that rumor.

Man is tight fisted with his money. No way he spends $250k on a one way trip.

I so wish the Flames would win the cup just to throw it back in the face of every player who left willingly. Starting with the guy who left the previous season, who was it again? cant even remember.

There are really big holes to cover when you're a small goalie. AHL level players might not be able to pick those spots. But you can be sure the pros can. Media hype on him is disgusting. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Elliott Friedman was discussing on some podcasts how the oilers are to blame for the break up of the flames. He wasn't allowed to share some stories I guess as they were off the record but now he is.
So, did he share them? On which podcast? This is a pretty weird post, it's like you want us to know you know something but want us not to know it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Oilers fans think way more people care about them than reality would support.

Nah, the Oilers aren't responsible - the Flames just went through a perfect storm the last 2-3 years. They brought in a bunch of new players, but couldn't quite get them all gelling properly. The answer? Sutter. But when that didn't work, they had players leave. Treliving did a good job filling the holes, but last season still sucked. From all the information now available, it seems Sutter made it impossible to have a successful team and essentially just delayed their success.
So now, no more excuses. No more Sutter. No more Treliving. (Although his legacy lives on with a couple of not-so-great contracts, I've seen new GMs navigate in worse territory.) It's just hard to "right" the franchise when now there are even more players wanting to leave. It's almost as if they should consider a true blow-it-up rebuild if that's the case. They certainly pay a lot of money to key players who won't enjoy success any time soon at this rate.
Ya the oilers had nothing to do with crushing the souls of the flames players during the play offs. That had absolutely nothing to do with the star players jumping ship.
Let's move along from that will we....
That's what you were referring to? I mean, yeah that was rough, but not even top five roughest things that have happened to that sad group. If that's Greek salad, it's the olives. Adds flavor but not much substance.
