Last year and now this year have been pretty big jumps as a percent in increased fees.

They're moving out of the $$$ TD building in downtown Edmonton to one of the former Worley buildings on 51Ave "to save money" so it's great to see them passing the savings onto the members.
Maybe they'll move out of Bow Valley Square in Calgary and over to Forest Lawn to save* us even more money.

*that they'll use to hire PhD's who have worked zero days in industry but are somehow experts on stamping drawings, sweatshops and regulatory compliance...

To be fair it sounds like it’s Improving. Basically a straight honour system.

licensed professionals will be required to complete five online learning modules each year (approximately 10 hours in total), and to follow their own Personal Annual Competency Evaluation (PACE) plan. Each licensed professional will create their own PACE plan and will continue to take responsibility for maintaining and enhancing their professional competence.

Regular reporting of CPD activities will no longer be required. However, licensed professionals must retain written records of their PACE plans, CPD activities, and learning module completions and provide them to APEGA’s Practice Review Board upon request.

So basically click through an annual online. WHMIS equivalent and let chatgpt write yourself a competency evaluation. File it away and never look at it again.

I honestly have no recollection of what I've done for CPD in the past. I certainly haven't attended any external training or development. I don't do anything remotely close to engineering anymore. I've basically BS'ed my way through keeping my designation because work pays, and I'll continue to do so until the hoops get too tough to jump through. Fuck APEGA, they suck.

Glad the current system is on the way out, but not thrilled about this whole "PACE" development plan and whatever reporting might come of it.
