They control the bank account that pays the out of court settlements for sexual assault and rape cases.
I dont understand why though? How was hockey Canada brough into this? Isn't it like an employee at some company raping someone at a bar? Would a company pay and bail out the employee? I get that they did get involved and handled the sitchuation horribly, but why did they get involved in any way?

The better analogy would be a group of your employees raping a server after a company party, then the company tries to cover up for it after the fact because it makes for a bad sound bite.

Then repeat that kind of behaviour for a decade.

Ya, I suppose. But I think any company would do what they can to distance themselves, rather than further entangle themselves...

I'd argue any company that involved in the process is not only aware of an ongoing problem, but complicit in it as well.

    Analogies?
Imagine an imaginary country... Let's name it "Canada". Let's say this imaginary country produced a product that the world desired... Let's call it "energy". But there were many other countries that also produced "energy" although it seemed pretty obvious that "Canada" produced the best and most efficient "energy", and "Canada" found itself in a situation where the "energy" it produced started to be tainted by scandals alleging that their "energy" was impure and was not brought up to market correctly.
As a result, "Canada" was punished and the "energy" from "Canada" was shunned and given much more limited chance to get to market, even though every other country had far, far more impure "energy" that was brought up to market through far more nefarious means; thus it was really unfair that this "energy" from "Canada" was being punished.

If this was happening, you could see how the businesses in "Canada" that produced this "energy " would have a vested interest in protecting their industry from scandals that damaged the reputation of their product.

But that's none of my business...

Hockey Canada itself gets taxpayer dollars. From all levels of government. ~$20M over the past four years from the federal government. Alberta paid over $4M for the World Juniors along with Edmonton/Red Deer chipping in over a half million on top of that, and Calgary with a half million for various tournaments and events. BC and Vancouver/Victoria much the same for the previous World Juniors.
I was just joking about hockey canada filling the arenas because of his stance on taxpayer funded arenas / event centres.

    This.

I'm not sure why hockey canada hasn't been dragged into the court system for some sort of accessory to this behaviour?

Fun fact: Brian Sakic was a better player than his brother. But also a raper.

    Why not hockey?
Minor hockey is rife with nepotism, abuse (physical, verbal, sexual), and fraud. That is also just around the adults, forget about the hazing/bullying from within the players. Then its all swept under the rug. Dont forget, its thousands of dollars to put your kid through that.

Extra curricular activities are supposed to support a child and give them tools that they can bring into their personal life to help them grow not destroy their self esteem.

Of course, this isn't the case with every team, league ect. However the overwhelming majority of these incidents happen with hockey vs any other sport. Im not taking the chance with my kids.

Most hockey players that experienced some of this (minus the sexual part of course) still wouldn't take it back. Plus, the kids are safer now than ever before. Bullying isn't tolerated anymore like it once was, even within hockey.

Any particular reason why I should care about this organization?

Their books look similar to the Mormon church.

I have the solution. Trudeau should just tax hockey.

Ice makes too many carbons during this cLiMaTe EmErGeNcY. Ban hockey.
    Or create a hockey registry.

Either way it'll pretty much balance itself.
