I don't find it awkward at all to have disagreements with my friends. Would be weird if it never happened.
Plus I change my opinion all the time. I am always suspicious of anyone who never changes thier mind.
Gettin spicey!!
I'm all for being the squeaky wheel. That portion doesn't concern me. It's bypassing the legislative assembly and amending laws as they see fit that I find concerning. It gives DS absolute power, as far as I can tell.

Anyone who wants separation, I'm not sure what else you were expecting. There's no chance Alberta's population would ever vote in favour of it, so it needs to be forced.

This is more that they know legislation like this can be toxic for investment, so they need to give themselves protections to overrule the legislature in case they actually vote for a resolution that does anything, to take the teeth out of it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. None of this is ideal.
But you either live in a functioning democracy, or you do not. Given the nature of Confederation, we do not. Smith is not to blame for that.

I was listening to CBC radio on the way home this morning. It was a interesting perspective. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If he province does not like something the federal government is doing. There is a long long legal process. What the Sovereignty act does(I have not read it yet, I am going by the impartial CBC radio broadcast) is throws the legal ball onto the Federal side.
In answer to Kerts post about what the federal government does. I don't think people really understand how the Federal government process can be weaponised against it citizens.
The Federal government uses different commuities, intiatives and councils to inact polices that can harm the provincial economy, take away the rights of its people with out due course knowing that it can do what it wants because any challenge would be a long legal process. If challenged ministers can say, I did not 'directly' do this. This body of power comes from so and so commitie, council, body etc. They can deflect responsbility. You can already see this happening with the current investigation of the emergency powers act.
Thats the issue. During the pandemic legitimate questions were raised and dare I say it, some we not asked by the opposition.
This act throws it back to Federal Government. Now as per my post I have not read the act yet and the legistlation has not been tested.
First they will come for the crazies and those that will oppose them. Then once they are controlled, they will come for you.

I'm all for "throwing the ball to the federal side" for actions the province takes that may or may not meet the legal details of the current constitution. Kind of a "watch me" sort of attitude.
