You can do a chemical tracer to see how the big the system is then calculate your antifreeze cost. With glycols you don't have to really go extra thick like 50/50, it slushes up before it ever freezes solid., I'd probably go 35/65 and just leave the pump running when it gets cold.
The test is available from Solutions water or Specified Technical. You take water sample from system, then add tracer amount, let it circulate for 2 weeks then take another sample, ppm changes, volume calculated. The only time I've seen that test be off is when the system hasn't been left circulating long enough.
