Last night 3 people in a span of 10 minutes on deerfoot. This morning's ride in 2.
If you can't figure out how to turn your lights on at night then fucking hang er up.
Easy to spot with no tail lights lit up.
Anyone else encounter this behaviour?

Usually 1 on my commute 99% of the time. Its like these people don't have an AUTO setting on their lights.

As I get older, high beams coming at me impairs my vision a lot more than it used to. Even high beaming them back, it gets ignored. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My car has the fancy spot projection high beam that doesn’t bother cars ahead of me, and I find it to be a stupid feature because it gives me zero benefits. I can drive with full high beams on and nobody cares. It’s normalized now which is terrible.

Add some LED bars behind the grill on an extra switch…that’ll get people’s attention. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
^ This is the solution. Had a big one installed on my Hilux with a lift kit and 34's.
The light would hit about center of the passenger compartment of a car or reg suv if they cut me off.
Retina melting ensued.
I had a rental (Volvo? or Merc?) Suv a few days ago. It had a feature that would dim your hi-beams if it detected oncoming lights or tail lights in front of you. Kinda neat.

I wonder if LED streetlight retrofits contribute to this problem. I feel like the newer LED streetlights cast so much more light, you can still see the road "well enough" if your headlights aren't on so the operator doesn't notice. The old days of sodium vapour lamps produced lower luminosity with a narrower range, so "dark spots" were very obvious and it was very clear you couldn't see shit if you were in one of those dark spots.
The instrument cluster is also independent of headlights on newer cars, so the operator can still see the gauges if their headlights aren't on (back in my old subaru legacy, my lights weren't on neither were my gauges...that was a pretty good reminder if I didn't have my lights on "Auto" for some reason).

I feel this. When I drive at night these days on the highway I seriously can't see a fucking thing when any 1/2 ton or larger comes my way. I'm only 36 tooThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This is my biggest pet peeve of winter driving, even more than people who drive with all-seasons on.
I've flicked my lights at other drivers and some figure it out and turn on their headlights after, but some people are completely clueless and when I pull up next to them, it's clear they're tunnel vision drivers and oblivious to their surroundings.
Saw 3 on the way into Calgary this morning. ALL of them were on Deerfoot.
I like to play the 'guess the driver' game' as I pass. 90% I'm right.....
Stupidity is a disease we all have, it's like a form of brain herpes. Outbreaks will occasionally occur.
The problem is that there is an "OFF" setting and the DRLs still operate. All newer cars past the mid 00's have auto head lights by law but they have to be swtiched into auto. These dummies either switch them manually and forget or just never put it on auto in the first place. They can still kinda see because DRL's but there is no tail lights. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
the high beams kill me, how can you not notice the bright blue light on your dash, it looks so out of place!
High beams are terrible. I see a ton of people that refuse to turn on lights. The worse is when it's inclement weather, and they have no taillights until they suddenly brake and appear out of the nether.
One time I noticed my younger sister was driving around with her high beams on, and I gave her shit. Her excuse was that she thought the blue lights on her dash meant her headlights were on. She just clipped the stalk getting in/out and didn't realize she had turned them on. She has since been re-educated.

Most cars have the high beam off when oncoming cars are detected. The cool ones have the spot beaming, so everything is lit except for black squares where other cars are ahead of you. For you it feels like high beams are always on.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I genuinely think some people's LED aiming from the factory is fucked, I see it on all makes.
You'd think with Auto headlights on so many newer vehicles now that it would be a non-issue... But with that maybe some makes have shit Auto detect and people rely on it too much
Ultracrepidarian
Everyone knows your headlights should not be turned on and off more than 4 times per hour, so a little drive up Deerfoot, they probably thought it was allright.

I've given up on cycling my lights to alert dumbasses.
I'm thinking a lot of them have their DRL disabled as well.
mine are definitely high, because of my level kit. the issue is i keep forgetting to set themThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
