Default Help adding a shelf inside kitchen cabinet

We have a cabinet or two that are very large that we'd like to add a shelf to use the space more efficiently. Can anyone recommend someone, or tips or how I might be able to do it myself? Peg holes and such seem very precise, is there a special tool cabinet makers use?

Yes, there's a specific jig for pin/peg holes.

You can absolutely do it yourself. Might take a little bit of rigging to place the jig on an already-built cabinet, but it would be doable.

Pre drill holes in another board spaced apart evenly then use that board as a jig for all 4 sides. That'll get you pretty damn close.

Thanks guys! I think I'll give it a go myself.

Is it pretty easy to find a shelf/veneer? I imagine that fake oak look is pretty standard?

Most big box stores carry shelves that you cut to size. Should be a pretty straight forward project.

I did this for my mom when I was still a teenager and I am very, very unskilled with woodworking. Like, Homer Simpson spice rack unskilled.
And, it went fine. You should have no problems.

I know it's a bit late, but if you want to go a bit more than basic shelves, we built this before in our kitchen as we had no shelves in some cabinets at all. Basic Ikea sliding shelf inserts on a little frame built out of 2x4s and painted.
