I get multiple previous owners government mail, BC, Alberta and Federal mail. So far I’m up to 5 different previous owners mail lol. Every 3 months I shove a huge wad of it marked RTS into a mailbox.

You guys may think I'm being nice to the person who's mail it is, but really I'm all about "dat RTS lyfe" because I know the post office doesn't get paid to handle it, and I hate canada post.
Its an act of agression for me.

This was my method for about 5 years. Then it just started to hit the garbage. It was that or sell their info on the darkweb.
But I asked @ExtraSlow about logging into the darkweb and he said, sorry, he doesn't know how to login to any web.

Huh, timely. Got a parcel last night. Addressed to a unit number, as if it's an apartment, but the rest of my address is correct.
Don't suspect I want the contents. Will do some sleuthing and see if I can save someone's Christmas.

had something similar but can't be previous owners as we are first owner of the new home.
address is off by 1number which that address does not exist.
Example: our address is 55 Street SE and Postal Code is T1A 1T1 but the package address is 54 Street SE and Postal Code is T1A 1T2
I looked up 54 Street SE and it does not exist, I found a house nearby with the 1T2 Postal Code but looks to be some immigration business but it is a home?? Super confused, think I'll just toss it in the trash.
trying is the first step towards failure

We've been at our place for 2.5 years now and still get stuff for the previous owner. The biggest one was from the Calgary Parking Authority. They sent a few notices, and then they sent one that was a bright yellow saying immediate response needed. I just "RTS" it and the mailman (sorry, mailperson) picks it up. Our mail person finally asked if that person lived here. I told him no and he said he would try and intercept anything else that came. What a nice gender neutral entity.

Drop it at the post office and let them return to sender.

Fuck, now I know where my mail (that was never delivered correctly to me) ended up… the trash.

The moving away thing being an exception, don’t be cheap and forward your mail.

That and when you get stuff forwarded to you, take it as a hint that you need to update contact information.

I am speaking this mostly to my wife.

Thats what we ended up doing. We made a list of all the places we could think of where we had to update our contact info then did a year worth of mail forwarding. Every time we got something sent to us we updated the contact info. It was also a good way to axe all the horse shit junk mail we were getting like flyers addressed to you from stores you shopped at once, or the sappy letters from charties you donated to.

The charities are the worst, especially when you know it’s costing them money to send you this stuff. I hate that.

Some of the charities use third party "mercenary" fundraising companies for those campaigns, so it doesn't cost the charity money, but the mercenary third party takes a BIG cut of any funds donated.
