    Default Microsoft Access/Excel

Anyone know of someone that is super proficient in these programs? Looking to pay someone to set me something up that can sort Access (a live database) information into excel, track changes etc. Need to know if its possible even i guess.

    Thanks.

I know Access a bit and how to do most of those things you're describing. But doing those things live or automatically querying, which is what I believe you are describing, from external programs like excel is beyond me.

It also depends on the size of the database itself and whether it's already built or needs to be built to allow for such queries. I am sure it CAN be done.

If you have an existing MS Access Database that is actively updated, and you're just looking to query some sort of report, or list of specific things you want to see, your best bet is probably some Tableau or PowerBI interface.

I feel like you're a drafter no? Its a live materials database from a model that updates in access, i want converted to a structured BOM... i dont even know if its a thing i just think of stuff then find people smarter than me to tell if it's possible lol

If the data is in Access. Then you can hire someone to do Power BI from that. Ive just started to grasp what it is.
Its a new tool that allows you to organise and make sense of data in various ways.

PowerBI is a GUI based report generator. There's been lots of these things over the years. Crystal Reports was the popular one back in the day.

I unfortunately do many many, many things.

If the materials database is in access you can set up a structured query to fill a BOM form in access. Might just need to create the BOM form itself if the database is live.

Tableau or Power BI are great tools for visualizing data in different ways.

Tableau is fairly intuitive, Power BI I need more time with.

Isn’t there some 6 year old in a third world country who could do this for 8 cents a day?

That's awesome. Apparently, generating MTO's or BOM's is a tricky thing to do. I recall a licensed program called MTO-Gen and know a guy who wrote some sort of Excel code that extracted them and it was expensive.
    Hopefully your method works.

This one essentially runs a live BOM in a palette and you can take “snap shots” and it will compare the difference for you. And you can export to a template which is also super helpful. It also has the ability to isolate items with miss matched descriptions and probably lots of other crap I’ll have to learn haha.

I too hope it works well! Seems promising.
