Default European SIM cards...Where / What to get...

Will be in Barcelona / Marseille and a few places in Italy in September.

    Then England and Ireland.

Need 4 sim cards so we can chat while sight seeing.

Grab em in Barcelona or earlier. I see you can get some on Amazon as well...

    Any difference ?

Will be for 4 android phones.

    Txs.

Just a word of recent experience - did the SIM card thing while in Europe/UK (we used Three Mobile SIMs ordered and shipped to us in advance from SimOptions - decent service but got dinged for $30 DHL brokerage), which worked great except for one problem - a handful of places were selling tickets online only instead of in-person. Which seemed like no problem, but when I went to pay with my Visa it wanted to do a 2FA by sending a text... to my regular number. Oops. Same with my wife's Mastercard. Tried changing the number registered with Visa but they only allowed North American numbers. In the end I had to use Paypal for a few purchases instead, and for a couple I was SOL.

May not be an issue for you, but something to consider.

Dual sim phone, Airalo is my go to. More expensive but I have all of it setup before I leave so I don’t mind paying a few bucks more for the convenience. It’s data only plans so my number is still primary and doesn’t fuck up imessage/WhatsApp or in your case 2fa sms etc. By far the smoothest way to travel and keep everything working. I’ve been using them since pre Covid. Never a hitch.

Referral code to save you a few bucks.

Hey, have you tried an eSIM? Get US$3 off your first eSIM data pack from Airalo. Use code SHELTO4609 when you sign up or apply it at checkout. https://ref.airalo.com/FPBx

My parents share a PokeFi for wifi only...
just need to be sure to use self restraint because it's connected as wifi, not to stream videos etc.

My dad shared it with a friend who happily chewed through 10gigs in a day.

+1 for Airalo. Used it in Cabo recently, and SoCal this week.
All of the family are on iPhones, so texting uses iMessage. I have a VOIP app for my work phone, so if I have to make a call, no problem.

If I need to I share my data using hotspot. Fail to see why I need to haul around another device. I used this back in the day but esim completely eliminated the need for this.

Honestly, I just buy esims for everyone in the family. Don’t need headaches.

Orange Holiday Europe eSim/Sim. Will work in all the countries you listed.

Airalo is okay but you'll need 16 data plans between your 4 phones and TikTok doesn't work on it.

Dont use Tiktok but it not working on Airalo, wouldn't that be more a carrier issue?

If data is all you need, then +1 on Airalo.
5GB is only 20US$ or 10GB for 37$ for 39 countries in Europe.
We bought 5GB plan for our daughter and she was on Youtube a lot while on the train or a car.

Why so many? On trips where I’m covering many countries I get their regional or global esim.

    Airalo all the way.

I've used it plenty in the US, Holland, Japan and Korea. Will use it in Europe this summer (Italy, Croatia, France, Spain).

Edit: For Europe, that Orange Data plan @gpomp posted is a better deal. The bonus looks like you can actually make calls on the secondary line which could help while travelling.

It works but may not be the cheapest.

And somehow they are blocked offering anything in their home turf of Singapore when I showed up.

EDIT: It's still dark for Singapore.

Orange is great. Used it all the time when I was travelling in Europe for work.

How does it work with IMessage etc having dual esim? I tried when I was in the states but it was all fucked up and I just ended up shutting off the primary sim.

I'm going to Europe/Morocco in a couple of weeks and I want to make sure I am all set up prior.

I just used it like this on the weekend in Vegas. @rage2 only does iMessage and I could still talk to him. Lol

Edit: Make sure you turn on "Allow Cellular Data Switching" - if you leave it off, it fucks up. Just make sure roaming is off on your primary line.

I set my parents up on AirAlo while in Spain with a regional card since they want to do some road trips through Portugal.

Been flawless and was dirt cheap. $14 for a month, less if you pick 1 country versus all of Europe.

I just personally use roam like home with Telus and take as advantage of my huge data cap as my primary internet while here. Definitely not the cheapest option but whatever.

The cap used to be $80-100 on Roam like home. Now it is 20 days = $300. Fuck that, Robellus already rich enough.

Yeah, RLH absolutely sucks now. It was great back when it was $5/day.
