@bigboom I will PM you.
Redid the trailer grounds today. This is an old trailer, and ground often get unreliable over time. Decoded this was an important first step before doing anything with brakes, 7-way connector or tail lights.
Decided I wanted a brand new "known good" ground point, so drilled a hole in the frame, used a wire wheel to clean off the paint around it, then used stainless bolt, washers and nylock nut to connect the ring terminals to a new wire. Because more is better, I had ring terminals on BOTH sides of the frame at this location.
Then took out the main ground near the junction box under the trailer where the 7-way, battery wires and trailer wires all connect. Took a wire wheel to that, and using a new stainless self-tapping screw, more stainless washers to connect that location to both my new ground locations AND the main ground coming out of that junction box (with a new ring terminal of course).

Used liquid electrical tape on all the connections in the hopes that it'll seal out road-spray moisture better. It's sure uglier than regular electrical tape anyway.
I also took apart my tail lights and check the ground there were fully grounding to the frame there, and both side were. Don't love that the wires are all connected with what I'd consider to be residential style marette connectors, but that should be fine. Did not alter anything back here, yet. Still considering getting LED taillights that have dedicated signal vs running function.
Need to find time to adjust brakes too. Rear axle appears to be good, but front axle not showing any braking power. Used the classic "lock up your brakes with the manual slider on the controller" method.
The other major ground on this trailer is on the tongue near the battery box. Again I use the wire wheel to clean the paint off the frame, and a stainless self tapping screw to replace the old corroded one. While the screw should be connecting through the threads, I like to have clean steel against a stainless washer that should also be a good solid connection. All connections have dielectric grease in them and then liquid electrical tape overtop as a sealant
Just a note that on this trailer, and on many others, the ground wires are white in color. I'm using blue and yellow wires because I already had that, and it s not used for any other wires anywhere on this trailer as far as I know, so while it might look out of place, it won't look like something else.

But did it fix it?
Just realized I should have out this in the tips and tricks thread. But yeah seems to have fixed it. Did a 50km loop between the storage near Balzac and Airdrie, had zero incidence of effort messages. So I won't know for sure until I have a few hours under my belt, but signs point to the issues being resolved. Brake adjustments next.
Barf... Liquid electrical tape.
Thought a guy like you would be into shrink sleeves. Maybe they ppt will help.
