Hey thanks for all the input!

I should point out that I am in Southern BC a whole lot more these days and that is where I plan on riding it mostly so lots of up and down with steep hills and dirt back roads etc... Think of the area around Penticton/Osoyoos/Keremeos in the South Similkameen.

29 and Tubeless, lower tire pressure on gravel will be fine imo.

I think on a full suspension bike that might be smooth enough but for my fat ass I don't think the full suspension bikes will be quite robust enough and on a hard tail it won't be enough tire to give me confidence. I do want the extra width too for soft sandy stuff etc that is around the rivers and lakes. I might be over thinking it a bit too much but I want as much versatility as possible.

I drive my radrunner on the beach all the time. Tires are 20x3.3" and payload is 300lbs. I have doubled me and my wife on ours and it handles it perfectly (combined probably 325). This is with pulling a thule chariot with my kid too.

If you are in the area, may be worth chatting to the Electric Fat Tire Bike Company, as they are based in Vernon.

I was just at Costco the other day and they had fat tire electric e-bikes for just shy of $2k. I think that would be a good way to get into it to see if its something you enjoyed without droping a ton of money and still being able to get a decent return when you go to sell it.
