Hoping someone can help shed some light on how to keep a mild hybrid charged if i leave it for extended periods of time.
I understand the E53 use a 48V system paired with a starter generator to crank over the vehicle. If the 48V battery is drained i would assume car wont be starting? Generally i've used a trickle charger in the past if i'm not using car but my understanding is that only charges the 12V system. does anyone by chance know if the vehicle has a step up mechanism to charge the 48V system using the 12V system if i keep it topped up with a trickle charger? i've tried calling all 3 MB dealerships in Calgary to get this answered and nobody seems to know.
assuming worse case scenario and i can't keep the 48V topped up does anyone know if these vehicles can be jumped? just doesn't make sense to me that a 12V battery can jump start a 48V battery? the manual provides instructions to do it but im not sure if its for the non-hybrid version.
