    Default Skip Tracing?

I am trying to track down an individual to serve them with a demand letter and if needed a statement of claim. In order to do this I need their current address. I have a recent but no longer current address for them. Google tells me that I need the services of company that does Skip Tracing. Wondering if anyone has experience with this process and could recommend a company or trusted individual to provide this service.

I'm also interested in experience shares from anyone who may have gone through this process in the past so I know what to expect.

I went to the registries. Showed them the court document. They searched the names. Asked for a general description of the person and then provided me their address on their drivers license.

    Have you attempted this yet?

My understanding of process is I have to send a demand letter, if there is no response, I then can file Civil claim in small claims court, but need to show that I have sent a demand letter via registered mail. So I don't have any court docs to take to the registry.

I'm not trying to enforce a judgement at this point, just trying to start the process of suing the individual in small claims court.

I am new to the process and the amount is right at the threshold of not being worth the time to pursue so I'm trying to avoid engaging a lawyer at this stage.

I provided my lawsuit documents to the registry and they got me what I needed... I skipped the demand letter phase in this case but I'd think that would work just fine.

If you think this person uses social media, I suggest you use a "friend's account" to start tracking thier activities.
Make sure your "friend". Does not have a similar name to you. I'd suggest your friend should be a female with an attractive profile photo too.
    Good luck.

Hey just wanted to share my experience on this.

I ended up simply filing a Civil Claim at the courthouse DT. They process the civil claim doc (available as a fillable PDF online) and stamp it. You then go down to a registry with this document and request a limited demographic search. This requires the defendant name and a last known address (you can also use a vehicle VIN number or license plate if you have it). They will then be able to provide you with the persons current address as they have it registered.

    It was surprisingly easy.

Turned out I did not need to send a demand letter to file the civil claim.

Tip of the hat to @gwill as this is exactly the process that he suggested.

Now comes the fun part of serving the Defendant...
