So I'm sure it some kind of regulatory loophole, but why do the advertisements for gambling app and websites usually state "Ontario only" when it's broadcast in other markets?

There needs to be more gambling commercials. I would like to see them while I'm asleep, as well.
Provinces regulate gambling, so some provinces allow more operators than others. Ontario is one of those provinces. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Because Ontario is a much bigger market, these sites are willing to spend nationally broadcast ad-buys just to capture that audience (with maybe the added bonus of getting degenerate gamblers to ask their local MLAs to allow more gambling operators).
I believe Ontario was one of the first to allow online slots and other gambling. OLG had offerings forever where as alberta just recently got something setup.
The last battle of Alberta had solely Ontario only gambling ads during the broadcast. Hope they charged a bigillion dollars for that advertising slot.
Online gambling is legal in Alberta, but it has to be through a licensed site. And the only licensed site in AB is through the official provincial website.
Nothing else has been legalized here yet, but we get to see all the ON commercials because national broadcast, or because they're paying to broadcast everywhere and may get a few extra eyes, like Kert said.

Slightly off topic but can somebody recommend a good online poker?
I was playing PokerStars but seem to get donked just about every other hand. People going in with 8-2 and hitting full house against AK in $100 tourneys.
Online poker you choose between donkeys and sharks.
Sports gambling will ruin more people than covid.
I think I'm the only one on my beer league teams that doesn't bet.
The dressing room is all bets talk now. Kind of annoying.
Guys saying the $600 they made here and there but we all know the house wins.
The gambling adds are pretty cringe/annoying these days.
But aside from that I don’t care much about fools being separated from their money.
Just don’t come to me with a hand out because you made bad decisions.

TL;DR: Gov't is maximizing it's returns on sins.
People outside of Ontario must be using those apps and websites, right? Like this "Ontario only" thing is said with a wink?
you need a VPN otherwise it won't let you gamble. I know I get booted off playalberta sometimes if it thinks I'm not in alberta. Stupid star link. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They're not using a bookie, if that's what you're asking.

If they don't, there are plenty of offshore ones that will that our governments won't see a dime. May as well try to keep more Canadian money on shore. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
