Interesting. Granted I was only on Glenmore, I was thinking the exact opposite actually. Glenmore Eastbound from the West end of the city through to the auto mall appeared to have not even been touched by mid day. Call me crazy, but that seems like a place you'd imagine would be quickly/frequently cleared.
Not saying they did anywhere near a great job. Just that they did better. 5/10. Previous years 3/10.

I know the guy that used to run Edmonton's snow clearing department, he said that Calgary does a terrible job and that virtually everyone would be fired in Edmonton if they plowed how they do in Calgary.

They have very different strategies, in addition to any differences in effectiveness.

They have different objectives. In Edmonton it's being able to use road infrastructure. In Calgary it's about paying city employees.

    Maybe that.

Hey can anyone explain why they didn't lay down the brine before this one? Isn't that a standard thing for Calgary except when it's extreme cold? Or is there more nuance?

It doesn't work in extreme cold. Too much snowfall during above zero temps will just wash it away, but after it stopped falling yesterday and was below zero they definitely should have used it.

I'm being a cynic, but whatever strategy they have has never worked.

Like literally nobody would object to the city buying more plows and having more people do snow clearing, even if that means reducing spending in other areas.

Most roads have a slight slope to them so my guess is that it would’ve just been washed aside from the earlier rain / early snowfall anyways before the heavier snow came in and wouldn’t have done much.

First snowfall is always shit because the ground is still warm and will always melt and freeze snow. Partly why it always seems worse than the rest.

They did in some places, all the bridges on the South end of Stoney were done on Sunday when I went by.

They do hell of a better job than Calgary. Having gone to Edmonton way too many times in the past 1.5 years, I will vouch for their far superior road clearing.

I question respecting the opinions coming from someone who willingly goes to Edmonton on a regular basis.

Oh it ain't willingly. I fucking mostly hate Edmonton. It's a trash city, the road layout sucks, I've driven by a literal fucking dumpster fire there, and I've seen way too many trashy chicks in thongs that should be dressed in potato sacks at the waterpark.
