So out of curiosity, are you guys positioning your tires where there’s grip? I mean if I kept my tires with the same tracks everyone drives, I’d prob want studs everywhere. Or are you like me driving off line where there’s more snow for more traction?
Sssh.....don't give away all the traction ideas or the masses will slick that up too.
ironically, first tip of winter driving on ice to my daughters was exactly what you wrote. if it looks slick in the tracks, drive out of the tracks and on the snowy parts.

It's pretty fucked in the NE. Most of the secondary roadways and ramps are solid sheet ice. Even good winter tires don't seem to make much of a difference on that stuff.
Agreed; it was shit everywhere for me.

@rage2 I look for snowy track when I can and I get grip but most of the time, it's shit around the north

Pretty slippery in the south as well with good winter tires. Maybe I just suck at driving.

Only places I am finding slick are super busy intersections and the occasional on/off ramp.

Drifting around corners in a 30,000lb truck is butt puckering at times lol.

Usually don't have problem with the Cross Climate 2 on the SUV. Today noticed bit of skidding trying to stop.

What are you guys peasants or something? Struggling for grip? AWD and like 4 types of traction control keeps the Honda moving no problem. Sounds like you guys need more Ridgeline in your life.

Calgary roads was abysmal this weekend. I drove down from Edmonton and roads were perfect until after Olds and after that they were terrible, including pretty much the entirety of Stony Trail. Lots of vehicles in ditches and on the wayback saw a double stacked semi swaying and fishtailing on ice in the middle of the highway right after the ESSO/Tim Hortons that comes after Airdrie on the highway. Must have been a good driver to be able to control it from going into the ditch. Sure enough, after about Olds everything was perfect. Fucking Calgary/Airdrie cleaning crews must have taken the weekend off.

    Wrong.
Edmonton always worse in all ways. It was -30 here on Saturday night so obvs it was -273 in Edmonton.
    You're lucky you were here.

There was a reason for a 30 cars pile up at Carstairs on Friday.

It's fine now, most of the bad stuff got scraped or worn dry over the last day or two.

I'm needing to do some WOT logs, hoping some parts of stony trail will be dry enough.
