Well, you should know, once you get fired from a government job, you're hooped. You are certainly not getting rehired back.

    Fair enough...

My totally uninformed self was thinking about PSAC grievances and the feds capitulating and re-instating them.

All the better if they stay fired but I have no faith in this gov't.

Tomorrow would be the only day. Makes no sense Wednesday onward as things clear up.

A lot of people are lazy. Plan ahead. Off to work now. Shovelling first.

Was all ready to go today but made a last minute decision to stay home after shoveling my driveway. Roads likely horrific and I take transit, so figured I’d be stuck on the bus for at least 1.5 hours. I’ll go in tomorrow tho.

Nice to have the flexibility either way

VP sent out a team's message to WFH if you want to. So I am.

I could make it in if I wanted to but why when the company is OK with it.

Back in on Thursday I guess.

    Obvious WfH day today, except....
    Fucking new employee starting!! Yay!!

Aside from the horrendous shovelling and shit this morning, the drive in was fairly basic.

Outside of neighborhood, roads are normal winter driving. Nothing special today. F150 on All-seasons had zero issues.

My question is, if people are shovelling their walks and drives during working hours - and get hurt, do they get WCB?

Also, if a worker decides to wfh during a bad snow fall, but takes a flex leave in the afternoon to hit the slopes because powder, do they get punished? Talking about a Tuesday core day they should be at work.

    Speak.

Shoveling their personal property isn't in their scope of work so WCB would not cover that. Maybe short-term disability would?

Depends on their flex leave policy. Do they have to give notice? Is something due or have meetings on Tuesday? I mean if your employer says something like "do whatever the hell you want but if the report isn't completed by Friday 4pm, don't bother coming in next week" and you get it done, does anyone care?

Also depends if you're salary or billable hours.

When should flex leave be used if not on days you're scheduled to work?

Exactly, it’s a nightmare for supervisors and managers. If the person came to work (per core day policy), they likely wouldn’t be leaving to undertake an even higher risk by heading to the mountains.

Don’t get me wrong, if it’s unsafe to get to work - please stay off the roads.

In the before times, today would be a normal Calgary get to work day - no?
