Default Industrial Uses for Blockchain - not coins or currencies - mega thread?

Years ago when someone first explained blockchain to me, it seemed like it would have many uses in industry.
Here's a concrete example where a business is using it to understand custody and transactions in a transparent way. Seems useful.

I've heard of a project to track oilfield waste, but I never heard if that got past pilot stage.

    Anyway. Mega thread?

    This is pretty cool.

Seems that the blockchain aspect might be secondary to the RFID tag thing.

Oil and gas has a consortium https://www.blockchainforenergy.net/ that was working on blockchain related initiatives, I participated in this a while back, even stood up some POCs for them but had trouble getting the industry to forge a path forward in terms of commitment. Once oil and gas has automated measurement and ownership it's a no brainer but until that point there will be all sorts of issues.

This is a pretty apt description of what it's like to work at the intersection of tech and O&G haha.

If my insider is correct, ATB is using it to transfer and verify large transactions. I am not sure how or what type of blockchain but apparently they have been using it for a year already.
