Default Which custom phone ROM do you use?

I want to wipe the factory firmware and install a custom ROM on my OnePlus 8. I see lots of different options but how do you know which ones are better and which ones don't contain malware?

The exotic ones are the best. They never result in frozen batteries.

Used to use CyanogenMod but that was a long time ago.
Now I just buy direct from Google and reduces the unused bloatware.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

In theory, the idea of custom roms is great and wonderful and all that cause you get to extend the life of your phone with the latest and greatest OS. Yay!

In practise, however, custom roms are often buggy and you have to wait on the developers (or more often, the single developer) to find time to debug, fix, test, and deploy. It also doesn't help when users just say "it doesn't work" without giving any details so the developer doesn't even know where to start. Even more annoying is when the developer decides not to maintain the rom anymore because they've lost interest or aren't getting donations to keep them going and you're stuck with a half baked rom with bugs. I wouldn't use a custom rom as my daily driver.

I stopped with custom roms when I started buying Pixel phones too.

One of the main reasons I buy OnePlus phones is because of the slider on the side, I can easily set it to vibrate just by clicking it down. Is there an easy way to set a Pixel phone to vibrate without having to take my attention away from someone talking to me?
