Best Way to Fax in 2023?

So of course the 'local' CRA being in Winnipeg means they're stuck in 1970 and can't receive emails, only faxes

I feel like one of those tiktok zoomers being amazed at how a landline phone works because they've only ever seen cell phones, being that I was born in the late 80s, so I've never actually used a fax machine

I assume there's some sort of app that's been designed to negate the need for a home phone line (another thing I've never had of my own) and some inkjet printer with a dialpad attached?

I've found a bunch of subscription services that claim to be the best, but do i need to go to all the hassle of signing up for this and installing software to send one fucking letter?

I could go to the post office and mail a letter like some sort of Neanderthal, but I don't think I've ever bought a stamp either, do they come in singles? Then of course I'm at the mercy of the super well-run public service known as CanadaPost

It's astonishing how many health agencies 'require' fax because it's 'more secure'. I have first hand experience sending people's very private health and personal information as part of an application - almost forgot my cover sheet a couple times, that makes it legit!

Fax is so secure, back in the early 'oughts I used to receive credit information to the "virtual fax" that every employee got with their email address. My number was apparently one off from one of the credit reporting agencies.

Had EFW imaging lose my x-ray req just this month too after the doctor faxed it over.

Faxes should be illegal.

I went through years of negotiating with CRA after they fucked up my mom's disability claim. I was able to attach most things electronically under submit documents in the my cra account web.

I need to get my CRA account back after it was revoked (even with 2FA) but the helpline couldn't do anything and said i had to fax or mail this info

We recently had to upgrade our main printer/scanner/fax machine and one of the options was to remove the fax portion and save a couple bucks. Nope. The only way to send documents to WCB and CRA is via fax. So I have to retain the use of the fax machine for 2 government run services only.

Haha, I said that to a supplier once when I was working at Bobs, they wanted a fax to do RGAs - the wee woman in Quebec just hung up the phone on me

I got a confirmation email that my fax was delivered to recipient from that website, but absolutely no way to confirm that CRA have it

We still have ~90 fax machines on campus, only one 56K modem line left though so we're making progress!

My entire office/field relies heavily on fax. That space age technology has not reached our medical system yet. Only recently (2022) did the health regions begin electronic transmission of imaging reports to our office. Crazy.
