The main issue is that while some people do, unfortunately, react badly to the COVID vaccines (which happens with every vaccine) and there are side-effects such as myocarditis, getting COVID causes many/most of those same issues but at rates that are generally greater by orders of magnitude. Getting COVID is far worse.

I've had five shots total, most recently in January with my first bivalent one. Not a single issue other than pain at the injection site for 2-3 days. I personally don't know anyone who has had any negative side-effects from any COVID vaccine. I do, however, know four women with long COVID, which I may have mentioned here before. Two of them, in their early to mid-20s, require nearly 24/7 care and have had it for 2+ years. One in her early to mid-40s is too fatigued to work. The other is in her 50s and is getting treatment at a long COVID clinic. No idea about her condition.
Neither my wife nor I have had COVID, as far as we know, and I did frontline work.
