Default Tree removal - free firewood anyone?

I will be hiring a tree removal company very shortly. I was wondering if anyone with a chain saw was interested in taking down the smaller trees and keeping for firewood instead of it going to waste.

Property is vacant now and will be torn down by the end of the month. PM me if interested or post.

    thanks

You should see if the house demolition guys will pull down the trees with the excavator. Might save you some cash. We had 3 trees we were going to keep, but then change of plans. Excavator removed them so easy including the rootball. Food for thought. They may only do it up to a certain size though if they do it all.

After 5 minutes, this is the most expensive tree I could find:

    Trunk Diameter (CM): 200
    Scientific Name: PICEA PUNGENS
    Size at Maturity: LARGE
    Maintained by: CALGARY PARKS
    Tree ID #: T-51241432
    Estimated Value: $177,271.375

    Nice!
    That in someone's yard?
Probably Aspen. Everything is great and high valued there. Ask any realtor.

if you use a company to remove the tree....Please share your experience.

I've got one that i would love to get rid of in my back yard for my deck extension.

Will do, just getting some quotes done now but also talking to the excavator to see what they can do as well.

Interested in the spruce trunks once they are knocked down.

If the tree company leaves them...and they are available.

Not confident enough to take em down on my own but could use the firewood next year.

Weird… I have 4 identical trees that have grown tall enough to ruin my afternoon sun, two are sub $4k, the other two are $15k each… apparently my hedge is unvalued but maintained by the city, I should tell them to trim that thing the next time they’re mowing the park

you can absolutely submit a request for maintenance through the 311 app. Although if it's unvalued, you can do it yourself if you want as well.

Same with my cotoneaster. Calgary Parks has never once touched it, even when it was a massive ungodly mess that I had to take right down to the ground and let grow again.

That tree value map, like most other CoC things, is hilariously inaccurate (at least it was for the sample of houses that belong to people I know). A funny example is the tree in my parents yard, on their property, that they planted, is apparently managed by CoC.

Is it in thier yard or actually on thier property? First 15 to 20 feet of my yard is CoC property.

Luckily there is only one tree that is maintained by COC on my lot and its off to the very side so it doesn't look that it needs to be cut down, might need a trim by maybe the city can handle the trimming.
