Three things that I concentrate on after I address the ball:
1. Loose comfortable grip, take all the tension out of my arms and shoulders. Think noodle arms.
2. Hinge the wrists down at the top of the swing. Think Dustin Johnson.
3. On the downstroke shallow out the club. I try to graze my body with my left tricep (I’m a lefty).
These three things alone have drastically improved my ball striking consistency from the driver to the PW. Slice is no more and ball flight is either straight or a slight draw. I don’t practice enough to make it permanent and my short game is decent enough to keep the scores in the 70s.
Watching the FedEx cup tournaments also highlights how pristine those courses are. My local courses have uneven tee boxes and fucked to hell fairways and greens. I’m sure I could pickup a couple strokes if I played on perfect grass.
