Fiancé's parents have a low km 150k black e550 that runs great but the shocks are on their way out. As you know the shocks are expensive to fix.
Wondering what it would be worth?
Have maintenance records and they have owned it since new.

Depends.
How much gas is in the tank and how new are the tires?

An S-Class in that vintage is under $20k, so I'll guess around $15k.
Then subtract the full dealership cost of that repair.
I'll give you $82

Dealer wanted 10k for the shock repair.. Will probably list for around 5k and see what offers they get. I'm sure the shocks can be done cheaper but they always go to the dealerThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I’d say the vmr cost is not too far off.
For reference, here is one with lower km, way newer, the twin turbo engine, listed for $18.5… and has sat for a month

Yep I pulled the Carfax on this too, one small $2900ish claim. Owner seems nice, I think it will probably sell for $15-16kish. 2007 with dead shocks is for sure sub $8k imo. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I can double check the shock repair pricing tomorrow to see if accurate or if they getting hosed and yes if its air suspension you can always go aftermarket route such as Arnott for half the price. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
If you do the repair yourself and then sell it you'll make more money. People don't like to buy a headache.

Did a similar job on the ML and depending on how long the bags have been leaking, the compressor may also be on its last legs and should be replaced as well. Rather easy job all around, just a bit of a chore. Problem on the E classes if I recall is the rear needing to be electronically deflated rather than just loosening the fitting, not sure why it calls for that as I just loosened the line on the ML but parts still look to be over 5k for Arnott remanufactured (I wouldn’t do a coil conversion or their regular bypass of the airmatic; it’s just not the same).
My parents drive this exact car. It's like driving a floating couch.

Arnott air springs seem alright from RockAuto, I bought a set for the R550 I had, and if you intend on selling, the warranty on the Arnott parts is not transferable anyway so you might as well throw on some cheapos.

Her parents already bought a new car, they are old and don't want to deal with it. Just figured selling it for them for cheap and someone gets a deal might be worth it. Semi rare care from what I've been told. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Could throw some coils on it and call it a day. Someone is interested for 5k and might go look at it tmr
There is nothing rare about e550s.
