My 10 year old 8-speed has been flawless. But the factory gearbox has a tag written in German, maybe that’s why. (I wanted it before they started making their own bad copies in the US.

I had a 2017 with the 8 speed and I thought it was incredible. Got very good mileage on the highway too.

You mean the Hemi tick? I thought it came from the factory like that?

Like a lot of engines, the manifold bolts break and cause an exhaust leak. These just tend to do it sooner and mine has just started too with 90k on the odo. Seems to happen more with short trips and more heat cycling.

On the new one it seems they finally figured out how to put a higher quality bolt in but now the manifolds are just cracking.

If they didn't redesign the manifold itself, the stresses that were breaking hardware still have to go get relieved somewhere.

A/M manifolds are about same cost and probably in stock.
Long tubes and ARP bolts. Fix you up good.

I fixed one side with OEM stuff at 80k and then when the other side went I just did LT's and a tune.
A trans tune also helps a lot. I still have the 6speed.

2011 Ram 1500 QC 5.7

I am getting a metal rattling noise from the front end when going over bumps. Almost like a piece of chain dragging.

Internet searching was pointing me towards the sway bar links / bushings but they appear to be tight / without play. I snugged up the top bolts on each side a few turns just in case.

Not sure where else to look...

Thoughts.

Almost. Looking to buy the exact tires new this Summer or Fall. Were they cupping and noisy yet? Seems they are prone to it.

I didn’t notice any problems with them in terms of noise or ride quality on pavement.

On a different topic.. does anyone know if there is a aftermarket steering rack upgrade for the 1500 (2016)? Mine is making some grinding noises and to replace through oem I was getting quotes in the $7k range.. cheers
