    Default WiFi Trail Cam Recommendations

Looking for a trail cam that can connect to my home wifi, or similar setup.

Would like to be able to hang the cam in trees near my house, and be able to view recordings on home laptop or phone, over wifi.

Anyone can recommend a model of trail cam or specific feature I should be looking for?

Sounds like you need a Wyze cam outdoor wireless. How far from the house?

You’d have to put a wifi extender in. I have one at about 85’ and it works great.

Looking into the Wyze, sounds like it will work for me, but read that you need a subscription for full functionality.

Do you pay for a subscription?

Does it work well without it?

Ps. I fucking hate the subscription model!

Are there any products similar to the Wyze outdoor that don't require a sub?

There are a ton of battery powered wifi cameras that will work but all of them are neutered without a subscription. You have to pay for their servers to access stuff online so it totally makes sense. The most affordable/bang for buck is likely the wyze system. You can even get a solar panel to eliminate the need to charge them periodically. I vote spend the couple of bucks a month for the sub.

I don't need or want cloud storage, I'd like an SD card for local storage, and/or it can connect to home wifi network and record on my nas.

Eufy seems to be what I am after, they advertise zero monthly fees, but have a high up front cost. Anyone running Eufy battery op cameras?

    Have had Wyze for years.
Subscription is for person detection. It works 80% of the time for that detection.
SD card records full time. No issue.
Not sure on the solar part if that works and especially in winter it could be an issue.
Wyze was testing pc viewing through browser but unsure if that's still a thing. I solely use my phone to view the alerts.
    Cost is good.
    Can have some downtime issues.
Don't update firmware on the cams past the initial setup and update. Hold off as long as you can because they routinely screw it up.

They bricked one of my outdoor cams and sent me a replacement. Customer service is good.

It's available now but (hold on to your hats) only with a subscription.

has nothing to do with what your phone pick up. Has more to do with how strong the signal coming from the camera back to your AP is.

I told him what he needs. He just needs to listen.
