Default Custom Interior Doors in Calgary?

    Hi All,

Building my own home, and while framing, I am making all my openings at least for a 32x96 doors. I will have a variety of doors in the house, from French door designs, pocket doors, barn doors ect. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations of a door company that i could work with to get all my doors ordered. Majority of the doors you can buy at Home Depot ect are all 80" tall, which isn't what I am after, as I want the higher 96" doors. I would need many as pre-hung, some as just slabs ect, all following the same design concept.

Anyone have any recommendations? I am also looking for a glass steamroom type door, where the door is sealed to the outside for our wetroom, so a recommendation for that would also be appreciated.

    Thanks

I've used Double R building products in the past without issues. Even Windsor Plywood is a good option since they deal with most suppliers.

+2 for Windsor. Pre-pandiddy when I was looking for an odd size door they said I could custom order any size I wanted through them. Not sure if thats still an option.

Thanks for the replies guys. I called Double R first, since I have bought all my lumber through them and didn't realize they do doors until it was mentioned here, but they told me they are moving away from that and recommended Regal Building Products as a place to go, so I dropped by there yesterday after work and had a chat. They said no problem about all my doors and answered all my questions, so from that perspective they look pretty good.

I will try out Windsor as well and pit them against each other when the time comes. For now, I got the info I needed and will put in an actual request for quote from both Regal and Windsor when the time comes. Regal also has a showers division and I talked to the guy there as well and got good info about the glass door, so most of my questions were answered.

My main concern was just to make sure what I wanted was possible, and that I frame out the proper openings for the doors to fit. French doors were giving me some nightmares, but I came to find out it's just two standard size doors + 2" for openings, so that made it much easier to proceed. For future reference for anyone who may find this info useful, if you want a 32x96 door for example, you frame the opening 34x98 and you will be good, just add 2" to each dimension.

Yep! You want at least 1" in each direction because your jamb is ~ 5/8" plus the gap of ~ 1/8" which leaves you with 1/4" to shim per side (1/2" total). Thats plenty of room if you are framing yourself and are making sure everything is nice and square. This also lets you attach your frams with brad nails. Guys who frame for a living and throw things up fast will add 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" then finishers will often face frame the door jamb before sliding it in and use screws behind hinges and stops so its more solid over a large gap.

We got all of our interior doors (as well as baseboards, trim, etc) from Timbertown when we did our reno last year. They were way cheaper than Regal for us and our carpenter preferred Timbertown for various reasons. It was the Bowness location, which I believe no longer exists?
The guy we dealt with was Jim Thurston and he was awesome - heard he moved to the NE location.

I'm looking to add an interior barn door to close off our en suite.

Windsor? Or are there specialists contractors that do barn doors?
