    Default Scrap Yard etiquette ??

The bottom of both fenders on the front of my truck have fallen victim to Covid rust.

Only the bottom portion where it attaches to the vehicle.

Are you allowed to just cut the bottom only off of a fender at a boneyard especially if the fender is wrecked ?

Are those parts available as aftermarket pieces ?

The plan would be to remove and repair myself / paint and re-install.

    Thanks.

Yards like Pick N Pull don't generally allow things like grinders etc so you are better off just grabbing the whole fender.

New aftermarket fenders are probably the way to go, usually ready for paint and not very expensive from a place like Calgary Bodyshop Supplies.

    maybe...

I'm also going to quote Beyonds favorite bodyman once I get back from vacation next week. There are a few other rust spots to deal with as well.

For a 13 year old vehicle with only 130K it is probably worth spending a few dollars on to squeeze a few more years out of.

Yes, you can cut off pieces of bodywork at PnP, they'll look at you a bit odd but I've done it before. As mentioned, grinders are verboten but a Sawzall works fine - you'll have to clean up the cut later anyway so give yourself lots of extra material.

For fenders though, they are usually bolt-on, would be a lot less work just to remove them properly and swap them to your truck, no?

There is also only 2 2009+ rams at PnP currently, one has been there since March. If you took them half a fender or a whole one, they are still going to charge you for a fender

You can also get a brand new fender, painted in whatever colour you need for under $500 from the internet

Yeah this seems like a problem that would be better solved by aftermarket or car-part.com than PnP. Non-removable quarter panels can be saved by grafting, but a bolt-on fender is usually a swap candidate.
