Default Building an industrial Lab in your DT office.

The Tech company I work for, is building a couple industrial labs (soldering, small press, thermal chamber, possible 3d printer etc). Where would I look to find the proper requirements for such labs in a DT office setting? Health and safety, code requirements.

    Thanks

Do you know anyone at CES? They have a chemistry lab DT.

Can't really see how it'd be any different than requirements at, say, the U of C.

I would start with the owner of the building.

You would have the best luck working with a real estate broker to find the right spot for your company.

Might be tough to find a building DT that allows that type of specific work to be done in it.

This is the kind of thing you consult an Architect and/or a commercial GC over.

It would be a mix of most comments...

-City Hall/Planning for use (Buildings need to be zoned for certain uses)
-Find a building that will allow said use. (Use aside, most will have restrctions of the type of business they allow)
-Designer/GC to take care of the design build.

If you are looking from scratch (not retrofitting existing space you are in) you could certainly use a real estate broker to start the legwork for you.. in terms of finding a building that allows such use etc.

Thanks All, We are are already in for the last 2 years. Most if not all the gear was approved by the Landlord, but the group is having wild ideas of adding more and more things to our approved labs. I just wanted to arm myself with more information. I'll start looking into the above suggestions. I just don't think they realize something they think is simple like venting takes on a whole new life in a high-rise tower.

    Cheers.

It is doable as there's always industrial options for recirculating filtration systems. They just won't be cheap. Fumes is easy to deal with but heat & fire generally are more of a concern especially from the insurance aspect.

That's my push. This office DT doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It should be at the Research Park or some other industrial park. But the big foreheads in another country think being DT will attract the talent. They don't know DT Calgary

If attracting too talent is the goal, include paid parking for that too talent as well into the analysis. $700/mo/head of that top talent.
