Calgary stampede parade, where to watch?

Planning to take in the parade this year, not willing to spend $70/ticket for bleacher seats.

Anyone watched it for free before? Any suggestions on best place to pitch some folding chairs?

How early need to be there to get a front row seat?

We have avoided it for many years, but kids are big enough we want to view it at least once.

Took my kids pre-covid. Lots of great viewing spots throughout the +15's. It's usually pretty dead on the west end of the +15s.

Wood building +15 is a great vantage spot.

What time do they close the roads in the morning? We are going down and would like to park at my building then walk over to our spot but I am just trying to figure out timing.

Also, if it rains I assume its still on?

Get there before 7am. But as ES said good luck getting out. Best bet is to take the train in.

They start closing roads at 6am, so don't be a slacker and you'll be fine.

Yeah one of my plebs told me roads close at 6am. Well at least they're being honest about it now.

I think that's not all the roads. Some are later. I don't know I'm not going.

It'll be fine during Stampede. Stations are going to be crawling with cops. Even pre-clown world they had a substantial presence.
