I am at the very bottom of the GX and LC wait list that I am told not to expect anything until 2025.

well at least you know that much, I have been told nothing.

Though when I asked about demo events they said "Spring" whatever that's worth.

Yes exactly. We just need a SUV that has more room than her current Q5.

For 108 you can buy a new F-pace SVR.
Exactly and so many other options. Even a Defender, slightly preowned RR Sport, Q8 etc. I don’t know I think Lexus kinda ruined it with that price point. They used to fit right under that market around the 80K mark and now it’s tough to justify getting a Lexus over the likes of Audi, RR, BMW, Merc etc.

I’ve been told I can get the Lexus last quarter of this year if I am still going through with it.

You aren’t getting a new loaded example of any of those for 108k

If you want to compare the price of a new loaded Lexus to a used Audi or Range Rover, well power to you.

You are paying a premium on this vehicle for it to be a rugged, capable, lifestyle vehicle.

TX is probably a better choice of people mover for your wife.

I've actually seen a couple of those and they look decent and was thinking of checking one out. Will look into it as well.

You can get a fairly loaded brand new Defender for the 110K price point? I think I would prefer that over the Lexus personally.

    Define fairly loaded?

Quick burn through the configurator that a comparable Defender X (apples to apples trims) to what you get in OT+ or Executive is ~130k.

Sure you can go down market on defender trims from there, but then again so can the Lexus.

The Lexus isn’t “cheap” by any means, but a defender is definitely a fair bit more expensive. Both are great lifestyle off-roader options. But if you are throwing Q8 into the mix the comparisons get pretty broad.

Yea fair enough. I guess since it's going to be wife's vehicle and essentially a 'people mover' as you put it, I think having a lifestyle vehicle like the Defender or GX makes not much sense. When I initially put the deposit for the GX it was with the intention that it'd be for me but I don't think I will be doing that anymore considering the truck that I plan to hold on to for the foreseeable future. Will explore some TX trims and maybe go check it out and see what that works out to. I think the sweet spot would be around the 80K range and more room than the Q5 which I think means TX could be a viable option for sure from what I can tell.

You should be looking at an RX as well. It’s probably a better fit size wise.

RX is the same size/segment as the Q5 isn't it? That would defeat our purpose for an upgrade and wanting more room.

You’d probably have to do some research on specs, but the RX I think is bigger. There’s a 3 row variant of it (or at least there was in the not too distant past) which for sure would be.

Yea the sides of the trunk are built out a lot with paneling really cutting into width. Annoying.

I actually think my M2 has more width since the sides jog out at the very back.

    Edit:

    That isnt an m2...?!

And good luck getting the first(second) year allocation on MSRP. They definitely dont have to sell you the car at that price. Just saying....

Is the RX-L even a longer wheelbase? My neighbour showed me hers (LoL) and it seemed to just sacrifice trunk space for a "third row" for ants. To my very untrained eyes, it looked the same was a standard RX.

If you truly want to keep it around 80k the TX should fit that bill. Theres not much else out there for that price point that can move more than 5 people comfortably and still have good trunk space.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Let’s all be real if you plan on moving more than 5 people around on the regular the only choice is van or full size SUV.

Everything else is just smudging around the edges.

The TX smudges it pretty good and yeah if you're hauling more than 5 daily there are better options but I doubt thats what Shaks wife will be doing unless I missed it

We're only 3 people and a doggo so I think the TX would be quite nice. And for longer road trips we have my truck anyway. I've contacted my guy and waiting to hear back to see what the prospects of the TX are like and will see. I've seen one or two on the road and I quite like the look of them. The first time I saw one I had to do a double take thinking that the GX was already out.
