Default Finally! Garage tear down and build

This year of trying to get renos done has been an absolute frustrating nightmare. From the 2 no show kitchen reno guys to 2 concrete guys ghosting me, to finally finding someone to be able to do the work.

Now that the kitchen is done, on to the fun part. Tearing down the old shop and building the new one. The old shop was 15x24, just not big enough for everything I want to be able to do, so im building a 26x30.

Started tear down this past week....

After much deliberation, I went and spoke with the town and got a variance. I am allowed to keep this portion of the shop and add on to it. This portion is 150sqft, making the total area of the garage 930sqft.

The new portion will have 12 foot walls, these are only 9 foot. I have my 7x7 roll up door that will go to the left of the man door for my ride on mower, snowblower etc.

    Marked out...

    Ground work started

    Ground work finished

Saturday is when the concrete guys are suppose to show up. Super stoked about this project, can't wait to see it through.

It was either this, or leaving just the 150sqft concrete pad with a whole open area in the back yard, building a whole other unit to house all the shed shit that will still be outside and then have to add on to the fence that was just built last year.

    This is much mo betta.

This is somewhat how I'll be setting it up for lights and plugs unless anyone has any ideas. Little Easter egg present on the drawing.

I'd add in another row of lights in the main garage. You can never have too many lights especially if you will be working on vehicles in there. Then you can set up 3 zones: the original garage, maybe the outter 2 rows of lights, then the inner 2 rows of lights. I'd also consider adding in a few more plugs, you're running the wire anyways so you're cost is the additional plug, face plate, and vapour barrier which will be under $10. Slap at least 4 on the 26' long wall and 2 on the 15' long wall. Looks like you will need another one for the door by the Impala for the overhead door too.

Its way easier to add now than it is later so it might be a good idea to run a conduit run on the left side for a future 220v line for chargers or welders.

I agree, I may need more plugs and lights, this is just kinda base. I don't think I'll run 220v for the other side though, fuck the people with electric cars lol

I wont need another plug for another welder either, one welder in there is enough. I'll be building a fold up wall mount table for my welder on the right side, so most of my welding will be over there.

Light and plugs, or if you want to save money, plugs and plugs, are always worth putting more in. If you have 10, you need 20. If you have 20, you need 40, and if you have 40, you probably need 100. More more more.

Do side mount garage door openers. 100% do them .
What heat you putting out there? Will prob need a plug for it. Figure out your work bench for plugs, other ones can be lower. Wish not all my plugs were counter height. Put switched plug in the soffit.

Ya man I fully intend to put side mounts. I'm sure I'm going to have plugs everywhere, that's why I'm drawing it out. Make sure I know where everything is gonna go and how many I'll need.

I'll be putting a gas line in there for sure.

Radiant heat. Tools get warm before the air does.

I've had radiant heat and forced air and I like forced air better.
