    Default Mouse/mice

Hey Beyond. So unfortunately a mouse or mice made it into my house. Any advice on getting rid of it/them. I tried setting up a few of those wooden snap traps on friday and no luck so far. I used cheese and bait gel on those ones.

The last two I caught were using a tortilla chip, with the grey plastic traps with the red arm. Every fall we get a few that find their way in.

I prefer these traps loaded with some peanut butter https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/c...p.0597966.html

Had some mice in my shop and the snap ones weren't doing it. Caught a few with the ones above in short order.

Wooden snap traps should work fine. Try peanut butter, place them along walls but perpendicular.

Had some get into our office and this got every single one of them. Just buy bucket. Ladder requires tape due to a design flaw.

    +1 for peanut butter.

We had mice last week. Heard the first one behind the stove, put out poison and snap traps with peanut butter along walls in areas there was signs of mice, and glue boards around those. Caught the first adult one within 30mins of putting the traps out, caught 6 or 7 babies over the course of the next two days ( ), then another adult one. No signs since, I’m optimistic we got the whole family.

The babies were challenging because they’re light enough to not trigger snap traps every time. One of them I cornered and stabbed with an old golf club shaft, and another I cornered between the dishwasher and cabinet then shot with a pellet gun haha.

Wooden snap trap with yellow bait pad and chunky peanut butter. Bait effective for 36 hours or so. Set it in the evening. Reset, clean and re-baot traps if they are untouched after 2 days. Place traps along walls or cabinets, under couches etc.

We had some in our house years ago. Caught a few with sticky traps (any discussion about humane goes out the window when your wife finds your pantry full of gnawed bags and mouse poop). We called an exterminator to make sure we found the source and blocked everything off.

Still have the blue poison bait stations in a few spots in the garage, etc. Those are good because they dehydrate the mice and it takes a couple days, so they tell all their friends about this delicious food and it gets all the ones that don't get caught other ways.

    I don't re-bait anywhere near every 36hr, but I'm not a master.

Glue traps in every corner with peanut butter in the middle

I used to have a pretty bad mouse problem at my farm. Get at them before they start reproducing.

Thanks for the information everyone. I ordered a bunch of traps off amazon that will arrive today. Electric ones, bucket ones, black snap ones and will put them out tonight when the kids go to sleep. I'll try peanut butter this time. It looks like they got the cheese off of some traps without triggering them so far

Sticky traps. Or Are you able to borrow someone's cat? Seriously they are ruthless in waiting and hunting them down.
Foster one or borrow one from the Humane society and make a donation.

I bought two of these earlier in the summer: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/v...mouse+trap#srp

So easy to set and to open and dump the body; Lysol, wash, and reuse. I use them in the backyard as they've been getting into the veg and BBQ, leaving little turds everywhere. Every time I've put one out, I've got one. I only use them when we see evidence, so we're not just attracting them and killing them. Even got two in one night and just got the ninth one last night. I miss not having cats; never had a problem then.

I jam something into the hole, like a bit of Arrowroot cookie, trying not to let it protrude past, and then cover it with peanut butter. The more they have to work at getting it all out, the better. Then place it perpendicular to a wall, with the trigger up against it. To release the body, you just have to pull back on the non-red bar.

If in doubt, prime the mouse (mice) first by putting out a bit of the bait you want to use, somewhere against a wall, and see if it disappears by morning. Then bait and set the trap in the same place the next day/night.

A sneaky good tip for hard-to-catch mice. Feed them one night, kill them the next with same bait. Can even put the bait on the un-set trap.

Yes, that is even better. I did it both ways. Then my wife had enough of waiting two nights to catch one mouse, so then I just baited them and set them, like last night. Peanut butter is the ticket, it seems. Did it at work years ago. All I had for bait was peanut butter protein bar. Unfortunately, my boss had bought a sticky trap and there was just fur in it the next day.
