His lawyer has issued a statement confirming he's been charged with sexual assault and that they intend to plead not guilty.

I'm on the side that they didn't know THAT was the reason he was taking the leave. There hasn't really been much in recent press that charges were impending or to expect it. They obviously knew there was a high probability he was involved but when his play has sucked so much ass lately and people have been roasting him on social media its realistic to assume as an employer that when your employee asks for time away for mental health that that would be the reason. Obviously 2 days later when the London police anounced they were looking for 5 players, then the other guys they've assumed were involved in start taking leaves, then they knew what it was about. But hindsight is 20/20. At the time of the request I can't see why they would assume it was anything other than mental health if thats what they were told.

Of all the reasons to disparage the Flames organization, this Dube thing isn't really one of them.

Correct. The flames front office was living under a rock.
I am sure he never told the Front office the reason. So technically they are correct. However they must have heard the whispers prior to his request
