I gave up on Google maps a couple of years ago. Canada is an afterthought. Using Google Maps in US cities, it tells you what lane you need to be in so you don't miss it, for whatever reason we don't get that in Canada. When Stoney SW opened up, NB it doesn't tell you to turn off to Sarcee so everyone was missing that exit. So I finally gave Apple POS Maps a try and turns out it's not a POS anymore and actually really good. Everything google maps US does, Apple Maps does here, and their road updates are WAY faster. The shit show changes every few weeks at TC1/Stoney has always been updated within a day.
And you're right, the google maps Website experience is completely different than the app experience. That's just google for you haha.
