Default Android phone, mail app, Outlook vs Gmail

Always used Gmail for email on my android phones. Has worked good enough for the last several jobs. Any advantage to using Outlook?

Started a new job today, and guy setting up my desktop suggested outlook app for Android over Gmail.

I will have access to laptop most workdays, but like everyone I do also read a lot of emails on my phone.

    Thoughts?

I like outlook way better than gmail. Calendar is easier to manage, and more importantly the search function actually works. Idk what I’m missing, but the gmail search function never once has returned the results I want it to.

My family runs multiple shared google calendars. Wonder how that all works in outlook calendar.

Strange, of all things I wouldn't think search would be the issue people would have with Gmail. One of the reasons I moved over from Hotmail to Gmail was Google's superior search.

search on gmail is excellent when using the desktop/browser interface, but it's garbage on the android phone app. I can't explain it. I am a big google fanboi, but I can't pretend that isn't a weakness.

What's your secret to get it to work on desktop? It's garbage for me no matter what platform I attempt it on.

That's pretty crazy because I feel the exact opposite about Outlook and Gmail. I've never had to type in a huge string to find something in Gmail, but is an absolute requirement to get anything done in Outlook.
