Default Any recourse after buying used car?

I bought a used 2013 SUV a few weeks ago from a dealership. Everything is generally fine and I'm quite happy with the vehicle, except for one thing: the backup camera. It was a dealbreaker for me to have one. During the test drive, I checked that it worked. It wasn't until I took it home that I realized that the backup cam has a bit of gremlin and that it doesn't always work. Instead, I'll sometimes (say about 1 in 3 times) get an error message saying something like 'Error with camera. Contact dealership".

Is there anything the dealership can do about fixing it or am I SOL because that's part of the downside of buying used? For what it's worth, it's a fairly large and well known dealership, not like a smaller used lot.

Did the dealer sell you a warranty as well?

I thought every dealer offers at least a 30 day warranty with every sale or something. Should try reaching out to them if it's only been a couple of weeks and if it's a big reputable place then regardless of warranty they ought to be willing to help out on such a recent sale. But I get that this might be wishful thinking on my part.

It does not hurt to ask I guess...
Reach out to them and see what they say. I think the repair on it is more labor intensive than anything else.

Yeah, and even regardless of warranty or not I'd be calling the dealer asap to push for them to fix it as part of the sale. If it's not a fly by night car lot they should be reasonable about it given its only been a couple weeks.

If you read that in your head with Liam Neeson's voice it will brighten your day.

Absolutely speak to the dealership. Don't even bother with a service advisor - ask to speak to the Manager.

Be nice. Tell him exactly what you told us. You like the vehicle, but immediately upon delivery, the camera was acting up. You waited to see if it was just an anomaly, but there's clearly something wrong. Ask him: "I've really enjoyed the experience so far, and I'd love to continue that by asking you to look into this for me"... or something along those lines.

Many dealerships don't offer 30 days or anything like that, but ones who care about their reputation will usually make it right.

    Sometbing like above, I'd try.

Outcomes that are possible, are what max said. Worth the ask but don't be surprised if they do nothing.
