    Default Window replacements

Backround- Home built in 1980- has original windows.

There are about 9 total windows Im looking to replace. 2 large front windows measuring at about 57x73
then the others are standard size with some smaller ones.

I got a quote yesterday to get them done. Removal, install of triple pane windows, Install, interior and exterior trim everything- lets call it $17,000 all in.

$800 for a company apparently to come in and do an energy assessment before, and after install for paperwork etc for the government rebate of $250 per window.

Thoughts? Reputable company- Nothing to hide its GreenFox windows and doors. Just looking for peoples opinions on what they've done and how much they've been set back on something like this.

Back in the day, which was like 17 years ago, western windows seemed very good for replacements on older homes.

We just had GreenFox replace 19 of our windows. No issues with them other than the curved trim on one of the windows wasn't ready. It will be done in November and the windows were done at the end of August.

Took them 4 days to do all the windows. Were very nice, cleaned up as they went, and did a good job. No complaints.

In-laws used Greenfox last year, and I don't know all the details but they still aren't finished, and I don't think they intend to finish either (nor was full payment given yet because of it).

    Nobody bats 1000 though.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

We just did 5 windows in August with EcoLine. No concerns delivery and install went great. they were the cheapest of the 3 companies that quoted. (Lux/EcoLine and someone..)
    - even knocked down the price at time of order when we pressed them.

They initiated the Greener Home Grant thing for us. 80% of the cost of the assessment is credited back and they estimated what the rebate should cover on each window.
    Would recommend.

Had our windows done by Greenfox about 18 months ago. 11 windows including some fairly large ones, was around $14-15k. From order to install was 6 months and 1 day.

Sheesh sounds like they're definitely taking a bit of time hey. I got told 3 months leeway potentially December/January (They say they work until -15) but that seems like a terrible time to do it. I may just hold off and do it in the spring/summer.

They told us 3-6 months but likely closer to 6 months so they weren’t wrong.

Went with EcoLine for our bedroom windows about 1.5 years ago. Best price I could find and they have lots of good reviews (+1 from me). Service from the guy who did the quote and the installers was top notch. One did end up cracking a few months in, it was replaced no questions asked. I think it was about 4 months from ordering to install.

What's the r-rating of these windows people are getting? And dual or triple pane? Any special coatings? Also did they install trim around the windows too?

Mine were 6 R Rating. Went for a mid range sun reflective coating, wanted some warmth from the sun in winter but some reflection in winter. Ours included new interior window trim installed but not sanded filled or painted.

Timely thread. currently looking at 17 windows, slider and rear door replacement. Getting quotes from Western, Centra(Supreme), Greenfox and Royal. So far between $21k and $35K. Going through CEIP program and will get Fed Greener home grant as well to apply to CEIP.

We replaced 25 windows with Ecoline. Ordered July 22, installed December 22. Except for 1 custom curved top window that they messed up. Took another 6 months to get it remade properly.. it was extremely aggravating to wait as long for them to fix their mistake as it did to order and build the other 24 windows. Other than that, they have been responsive in dealing with issues, needed a couple door adjustments trim repairs, screen replacements, 2 window panel defects corrected. Oh, and they did an absolute shit job at installing the window trim.

Glass seems great, house is much quieter and more resistant to outside weather. Did triple pane with a sunshield coating on the south facing windows.

We got this coating on our windows and it works for all of them but the north facing one that is directly under an eave (No rain hits it).

Everytime it rains, we have clean windows and I can tell those door-to-door window washers to fuck off.

That's pretty cool. Can it be applied after the fact? Or did it need to be done at the shop/factory?

Isn't that pretty much just Rain-X? I use it on our windows too.

Don't see the point of having a house if I can't see some guy's ass crack in a kilt cleaning my windows.

Had 15 windows (one 5 section bay window), and 1 door (waiting on 1 more door to come in to be installed) installed a week ago. Installer ordered through all weather windows. Was cheaper than anyone else, including ecoline after their estimate with the grant included. Was just under $24k. Had quotes ranging to almost 50k.
