My home insurance renewal is coming up and I wanted to shop around a little. I currently pay ~$140/month, house is ~1,600 sq ft, 2 level detached.
Im curious what everyone else pays and who their provider is?

Have you asked touchstone?

Regardless of providers or what extent of the policy, you can just call and ask for a discount. I called and right off the bat they gave me 10%. Then after reviewing my policies we found some further discounts or add ons that were costing money for little value. Ended up saving $1000 over everything. (Auto and home).
Gotta say I’m proud to be touchstone this year, got a email recently that everything dropped in price. My typical week of shopping around isn’t going to happen this year. I’m around 2k for 2800sq ft attached, with 3 cars so I’m sure there is some discounts and junk.
I cant believe how expensive mine is. 2 cars, ~2500qft house, absolutely zero claims history costs me ~5k/yr.
Do you live outside the city? If not I would be shopping that around. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yeah I'm in the city. Currently with touchstone, and price checked with another broker less than 1 yr ago that was highly recommended by beyonders, who came in at almost the same price. The only way I get cheaper is if I go to a large group provider like The Personal or something, and I'm not sure I want to do that again. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. That being said, I probably should take your advice and shop around again. It's just such a headache.
$150/month for our bungalow in Thorncliffe. $30/month more than it was two years ago with zero changes and claims.

I'm starting to get frustrated with TD. Have been with them for 20 years for house and cars. Calling in is a gong show as their automated voice system sucks, then you wait on hold for 20 mins to get some millennial who is eating while talking and distracted when you are asking questions. On top of that, they seem to be the most expensive option.
My last insurance call consisted of "I'm working from home, can you talk louder because I have the TV on."
Fuck.
Telephone calls to insurance, just terrible.
Part of the reason I was so impressed with my current auto claim with Intact. Submit everything through the app, all other communication by text or email. Zero phone calls, and all very quick.
I know auto claims are usually easier than home claims, but still.

We already have two North Havens, yes. But what about a third?
for 2023 I was $5k with a 1500 sq ft house in the NE, a 11 year old SUV and a 2 year old SUV with Intact. I can only imagine that it will be going up as I sold the 11 year old SUV a few days back and picking up a new Tacoma next month. To add to my wallets pain I also have another 16 year old car with the personal that intact wont insure that costs me $2200 a year so that $7k to insure my stuff in 2023. Hoping that the hurt isnt much worse when the renewals show up in late November. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I know for sure one thing that drives my premiums up is my wife’s GX460. They’re right near the top of the most frequently stolen vehicles. It would be nice if the fact that I park in a garage would make the premium go down, but that’s obviously wishful thinking.
Yep I was about to buy one and thankfully got an insurance quote before I did the deal, it was 50% more than even the X5D I bought which was already a rip-off imo. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Imo when it comes to insurance less is more.
Policies have gotten so complicated with tons of BS add ons that it’s tough to make sense of them.
I just self insure as much as I can with high deductibles and minimal features.
