The answer should always be no unless you don't care about the cost or are on the low to mid end of the skill range. Something about heli/cat that attracts the once a year kind of crowd. I hate waiting for Jim to figure out how to get down.

Spent the morning figuring out kids skis, need to grab some 100cm ideally boy color if anyone has some. Daughter needs some 140cm.
Grabbed some new poles from outlaw sports as they have a sale on. Nice people in there too.
What did you figure out? I'm going to need kids skis starting next winter and I have no clue

Has anyone tried the heli operation SilverTip? Got an invite and trying to decide if it’s good enough to go with some folks I don’t know well.
I wouldn’t bother unless it’s free. Terrain and snow aren’t the greatest if you’re spending money.

Ski West has a great program for kids gear. You pay for everything the first year and then can take it back and get 50% toward a new set within 2 years. You can keep doing this until they are in adult gear.
I did this with my daughter and ended up getting her new boots every year and new skis about every 2.

I found some on kijiji. Now I have 100cm, 110cm, 2x 130cm. Kids sizes you can buy for $30-80 typically. Then boots would be roughly the same. Sell when done and roll that money I got the new stuff.
It would be nice to buy the new stuff but they only use it for a short time. The trade in programs are ok basically $120-150 for 2 years. But I have 3 kids and can roll that stuff for 6 years. Just get gender neutral colors, the little guy rocked pink skis though. Haha

I would not be paying. That’s what’s making it tough to decide. I do know these guys are older, but good skiers

I'd say it'd be rude to turn down free Heli skiing at any operator.

Sunshine is “soft opening” this weekend with NO chairs (hiking and magic carpet only) for the “low” cost of $49

Might go check out nakiska Friday as it looked like they at least had something

New board for park riding at COP, bought it from the same guy I bought my archetype from last year.

154 Endeavor Pioneer Legacy - still waiting on some genesis straps to make the cartel x’s more forgiving, and then stickering it up a bit

I’ve got a trip planned to Italy for 2 weeks in late January. Doing the European delivery for my Sterrato for a couple days and then have about 12 to do whatever. Planning on heading north to the Dolomites to do some riding but have no idea where to start. If any of you have ridden Italy, I’d love a rundown on where to go and what to expect.

Bumping this. Has anyone done any skiing in or around the area? Is it even worth it? It looks beautiful but I’m a snow snob and I’m not sure it’s worth lugging all my gear around while trying to see a bit of Europe at the same time…

I've done some touring and skiing in the French and Swiss Alps and I thought it was pretty cool. You have to be pretty self confident about the mountains and route finding but it was rewarding. If you're near Mont Blanc, Chamonix is super cool as is aiguille du midi. You can always do Valles Blanche which isn't too committing but very cool.

Depending on time of year and your level of commitment, the apres scene in itself is worth checking out even if you just ski from bar to restaurant to bar to restaurant. You can also go as big as couloirs that require a parachute so choose your own adventure. I rode a lift at Verbier with a guy by himself with a parachute

Edit: snow snob. Me as well but it's just different. It won't be as good but it's more technical skiing on worse snow. But we don't have anything like the Alpine like they do. It's a great experience but expect wind affected snow, facets and variable conditions. Europe has apres and terrain. Canada has terrain and snow. Japan has snow and apres

Huge BF deals on the mountain collective pass. Code: SIA2324TMC brings it down to $300 USD

Thanks brother! Really appreciate the information. Did you travel around with a car or train/bus? Is it kosher this time of year to use public transit with a good size backpack and board bag? We wanted to use public transport so we could just snowboard from country to country without worrying about the car. Cheers

My buddy does, it pays itself off pretty quick. They must be going broke or something to sell for half price (he bought for $700 USD at presale). Definitely worth it if you head to states at all

I'm not sure sorry, we rented a car. If you stay in say Chamonix or Verbier you can get around no problem with public transportation. From doing that in Japan it really, really sucks
