    Default 2025 RAM offers new engines and 700 mile EV

    Finally, someone builds a hybrid full size. 145 miles of EV range, 663hp, and 665 TQ, with a gasoline range extender for up to 700 miles +. Can’t believe I really like a Ram truck, but this would truly work for me!

    Oh, and the archaic Hemi is finally gone. Replaced by a powerful inline 6 turbo.

    Damn was thinking I should post about this this morning. The new Ram powertrain definitely look interesting, looking forward to trying them out. You know what they say, 6 in a row, ready to tow, 8 in a V, sit down to pee.

    Powerboost isn’t a BEV with a range extender. The Pentastar can only charge the 94kwh battery, it can’t power the wheels.

    It's a pretty different design concept compared to the ford powerboost. I really like the idea. Also, I would hope it's more advanced than the ford powerboost, being that it was released three or four years ago, and this will be released in two years.

    Also awesome journalism in that article. Refers to the gas engine as both an I6 and and a V6. Letters matter.

    Both the Pentastar V6 and the new Hurricane I6 are part of the powertrain options.

    So not a hybrid at all… one could say that the ford is the only “full sized” hybrid

    Ramcharger = series hybrid

    Powerboost = parallel hybrid

    One interesting point is also that Dodge/Stelantis is the only major automaker besides VW that hasn't agreed to change over their EV charging ports to the NACS standard. Given dodge has 0 market share at the moment they presumably will be they do seem quite sluggish to make the decision despite everyone else already announcing the changeover.

    I am not a truck guy, but the 1500 Ramcharger looks sexy to me.

    This thing isn’t a truck. It’s basically a train.

    Trains have proven to be effective at hauling things, so that's good.

    Will be interesting to see how it turns out in practice.

    Not sure the range extender EV concept has been that effective in other applications.

    Myself, I’d rather have a Locomotive. Train be too hard to park.

    Theoretically, the pentastar's output is like 200kw? Can charge the battery in 30min from empty?

    But this thing will be more expensive than F150 Lightning? Consider now you have add engine and fuel tank(s)?

    Better idea than GM shoving 200kwh battery tho.

    Here is a thought question. Which costs more? A big battery or a dirty old Chrysler ICE.
